I got my first collie, Dew-Dolly in 1977, from Ege Maas (Thunderclap collies) who brought her from St.Petersburg to Tallinn as a mating price. Her sire, Vesimiehen Herttua was a grandson of the legendary CH Ramsey of Rokeby and her dam Desneja was a top working collie in Soviet Union, trained and competed in obedience, defence and tracking. She was also a good brood bitch, having big litters, our Dolly had nine littermates. In 1982 Dolly had her first litter of seven puppies out of Soupen Grainger – a gorgeous shaded sable of finnish bloodlines lived in Moscow. This litter was named Dewger-G….and three of them had influence on Estonian collies – Dewger-Grendy (sire of some beautiful collies), Dewger-Grecenda (Helin Kasuk, Calleca’ry started with her) and Dewger-Grelly (foundation bitch to Kasepere collies). The first Dolmaris litter of eight puppies was born in 1983 out of Caider Gingerpop (Deliilan Ceder- Vesimiehen Lollobridgeda) and Dew-Dolly. From this litter Reval Dolmaris Cinderella made history by winning the special show “The Collie Day” being only six months old, judged by Tuulia Aaltonen, the finnish breeder of Vesimiehen collies. She was owned by Ingrid Hein and was her foundation bitch to Cayring collies. Dolly’s third and last litter of seven pups was born in 1985 out of Reval Villa Tommy consisted of several strong and healthy males, from them Dolmaris Duke-of-Reval was shown few times quite successfully and passed away being 14 years old. The long lifespan was common to Dolly’s offspring. Dolly teached me a lot about the collie character and breeding, we also trained obedience and search and got the results from the trials.
In 1988 I purchased my first male, Fribyn Richard from Finland, Laitinen family. He was my first Champion. Richard passed away 15,5 years old, being a wonderful companion and a good sire. His offspring had influence in the former Soviet Union territory. I bred one litter from Richard’s daughter Lucky Star Black Nightfly out of Rantalappia Hot Kabutsino. From this Dolmaris I… litter comes Dolmaris Imagine and Ideefix who had influence in Arhangelsk, Russia.
Then I became fascinated with blue-merle collies and bought “Bonny” Reval Skylit Blue Bonnet, (W Sunshine Blue Moonstone – W Reval Gallant Black Elivate) from Viivi Perri, Tallinn. Bonny was a great personality, always ready to play and run. Bonny’s first litter of 3 bitches was out of FIN Ch Vesimiehen Mainoskatko, a blue-merle dog. There were 2 blue-merles and 1 healthy white merle. Dolmaris Bonbon was shown couple of times successfully. She was loved and cared by Saarela family. Then Bonny was twicely mated to Fin CH JK2 Ebony of Joshren, from these litters came Dolmaris Arrah, tricolour dog shown few times and a sire of few litters; Dolmaris Black Ariette, tricolour bitch, 1CC and BOB; Fin,Est Ch Dolmaris Emissar, blue-merle dog, 3CC, BOB and 2BOS; Dolmaris Eirienne, tricolour bitch. In 1997 Ariette had a tricolour litter out of Kasepere Jermot, here came Dolmaris Jessica, Dolmaris Jezebel and Dolmaris Jet Black. From the repeat mating came Dolmaris Ultra Bra. Eirienne had a single daughter out of Cayring Black Deverton in 2002, Dolmaris Katriona. Dolmaris Ultra Bra had also a litter out of Kasepere Muhvel. Unfortunately I lost Bonny’s bitch line, her last descendent was her granddaughter Skylit Mercy.
In 1999 we brought a sable bitch puppy from Nyitramenti kennel in Hungary. As a puppy Meri, Nyitramenti Elbereth was a charming little girl raised in Fribyn kennel. She gained under the age of 2 years 2CC´s and BIS puppy at the main Finnish speciality show in 1999. In 2000, Joshren Nicolai joined us from Ireland, the halfbrother to Meri. Tim was a true heartbreaker, he lived his last 10 years in Nieminen family. In 2002 Nyitramenti Elbereth passed the Finnish character test and became Fin, Est Ch. Her major show success came when she was nearly ten years old by winning the Finnish Speciality under Brian Hawkins. Altogether she received 1xCACIB and 3xResCACIBs; missing her title only because I did not give her enough chance… Thank you very much for this charming princess, Jelena and Janos! Meri was a dominant sable and gave us two wonderful litters Dolmaris H… and Dolmaris L… From her first litter out of Ch Ingledene Dream Lover came two brothers, Dolmaris Heir of Love, owned by Kaarina Pesonen, Downmoore collies and Dolmaris Hocus Pocus, owned by Taru Rekorius, Siniketun collies. In 2006, when Kaarina used D. Heir of Love to her beautiful tri bitch Fin Ch Downmoore Cross My Heart, co-owned by Jorma Lahti, I bought back Downmoore Dark ‘N’ Dusty, ‘Thori’, a dark sable male. Thori managed to repeat his grandma’s success to win the puppy class at Finnish Speciality in 2006. From Meri’s second litter out of Fribyn Uppo-Nalle at home stayed Dolmaris Laurelin, ‘Elli’. Elli was my soulmate, shown only few times and bred thrice. At home we have Elli’s granddaughter out of Dolmaris Oropharme, Est Ch, VetCh Dolmaris Suzan Light. Suza’s sire is an U.S. import, Barksdale-Tartanside bred FinCh Random Acre’s William Light owned by Snowpaw collies. Suza was a singleton and naturally born in nearby university veterinary hospital – her birth weight was 450g! She is the most kind and special girl in our pack, nursing everybody else. Suza gave us two litters, of 3 and 6 puppies. At home stayed a sable girl Dolmaris Valandil ‘Valle’ doubled to Nyitramenti Elbereth 3:4, out of our own Thori – Downmoore Dark’N’Dusty. Valle gained her Est Junior CH title easily and also completed Est CH afterwards, but her temperament and breeding value is most important to me, also being my new soulmate after Elli has left us being 14,5 years old. Valle passed tests for herding instinct and therapy dogs, working as a reading dog for children in local library. In 2017 Phreelancer Phamous Word joined our pack, thank you Lene for trusting us the Golden Boy. Recently ‘Mette’ Dolmaris Änkza Äitse, the granddaughter of Valle stayed at home to continue our bitch line as our 7 generation of my breeding starting from Nyitramenti Elbereth.
